What Is AfriLab AI Creator Cohort?
The AfriLab AI Creators Cohort is our flagship live experience, where selected creators from across Africa build original stories using AI.
This is more than a competition—it’s a real-time creative journey from ideation and scriptwriting to full production.
Using AI tools for writing, visuals, sound, and editing, creators transform simple ideas into powerful stories—step by step, in front of a live audience.
The cohort also serves as a talent discovery platform, identifying creators for deeper opportunities within AfriLab AI Film Hub.
The current cohort will conclude with a public showcase, where final films are released and the winning creator—chosen through audience engagement—will receive a $1,000 prize.

How It Works
Step 1: Apply
Submit a short video pitch, a one-page story synopsis, and explain how you plan to use AI in your film.
Step 2: Create
Over 12 weeks, selected creators move through ideation, production, and launch—receiving guidance, exposure, and accountability.
Step 3: Premiere & Win
Films are released to the public. Audiences vote. One creator wins the $1,000 grand prize.
